The 2000 Combined Reunion
Classes of ...
1956, 1957 and 1958
... through the eyes of
Beverly Smith (Zacharias) Herrington (1955)
In the
year 2000, the Classes of 1956, 1957 and 1958 joined ranks for a reunion, the
likes of which few have ever attended or enjoyed! My Class was 1955 ... we
should have been celebrating our 45th reunion, but it was not to be.
Fortunately my younger sister, Sharon Lee Smith Spies, Class of 1958, invited me
to join her at the 3 Class Reunion. Naturally the theme was the 50's and the
decor included vintage red and white Thunderbirds, a huge Harley ...

...
and even a surprise, a special classmate ... Ray Ragsdale
(Stevens!) who joined us both nights ...

...and he
turned over 300 seniors (because that's what we are!) into bright-eyed teenagers
when he called those of his original band who were there, The Barons, to the
stage. They jammed for us ... and we were young again!!!

Old beau
Terry Coleman, still at the drums ...

... and
another old beau Edgar Campbell watching with delight at the edge of the
stage!!

Ray
mentioned how "offensive" some of the words to the songs of our day were back
then - and told the story of "Mr. Mac", our Principal, looking to admonish Ray
for performing that terribly risqué song, "I Got A Woman, Way Over Town ...
she's good to me!" Man, were our days virginic or what?!!!
Yep, sweet
memories ARE made of this!
